International
Week –
The three international weeks that happen in one year
are a splendid celebration of diversity and would be impossible without the
driving force of the committee. They encourage as many people as possible to
participate, have constant reminders during house assemblies, organize a range
of activities and delegate efficiently. Without their commitment, the
International Weeks would be half-hearted and lack the sheer passion they are
known for.
Sharks –
The Sharks
Committee has only one job, but an important one – the Sharks Party! Each
year’s team organizes three parties a year with specific themes that bring out
the wild side in boarders. Other than coming up with themes, they organize how
much food to order, serve appropriate drinks to attendees, decorate the Sharks
room with magnificent props and play music that gets even the shyest person
dancing. If there’s one thing the committee is remembered for – it would be the
interviews they conduct for hopeful applicants and then secretly film for the
rest of the boarding house.
House Council –
The House Council
is the boarders’ representative to the officials and undertakes projects to
improve boarding life in general. Weekly assemblies are organised by the
Council to keep everyone up to date on events in the house. They organise the
much-loved and much-awaited barbeques wherein Sodexo’s cooks outdo themselves
and we boarders whet our palates with the sizzling taste of burgers and
sausages alongside a cold drink or two. House Council never disappoints, be it
food, resources or any friendly help that is needed – you know that you can
count on them.
Environmental –
At the start of
last year, they implemented recycling boxes on all floors and in the common
areas. They also undertook the introduction of a vegetarian day – no meat, no
fish. This group of eco-friendly and environmentally conscious boarders go the
extra mile to spread awareness and do the extra bit in their own small ways.
