Orientation week was
all about helping the newly arrived to get used to Singapore, the boarding
house, speaking the English language, the food and just life in general. The Orientation team started the week off with a few ice-breakers, helping the new boarders get
familiar with each other and us seniors too in the process.
As new friends were being made and possible life-long bonds, there was a lot more in store. There was a visit to Ikea for new furniture, an introduction to IB night, a house tour, a night out at Holland Village and simply hours of talking. The two most memorable events were the Pit and The Amazing Race – in the prior we got muddy and worked harmoniously in teams to complete various tasks while the in the second we took the newbies to different parts of Singapore. A week before school, Orientation not only accustomed Grade 11’s and 10’s to UWCSEA boarding, but helped create a great atmosphere.
