Holi 2012

Holi is an Indian festival celebrated annually celebrating the victory of good over evil and also the power of devotion. Mythologically, Holi is significant in a number of ways but the moral is always the same - good & truth always win.
I remember being homesick last year that I wasn't home to celebrate Holi with my family and ones I love but this year, that changed. Courtesy some boarders in Mahindra House, Holi was organized to be on Sunday morning for any boarders to come join.
The festival includes throwing colored powder on each other, getting soaked with water, chasing each other around to try and get the other more colorful and in cases, eggs. Though we didn't use eggs, the wet mud on the field served as a good substitute. We ran around on the huge AYE field, throwing buckets of water and within minutes, the packets of color (10kgs) were over. Every time a newcomer approached the field, a hoard of the already colored ones would attack. At one point we even got Mr. White, house parent at Mahindra house who strolled by just wanting to see how things were going.
The picture at the beginning is how one of the participants looked before we started, and the following are just a sneak peak of the fun we had.
After running so much we were bound to be tired and Sodexho had a special Indian meal prepared for us. Food included Kathi rolls, Pav Bhaji, flavored rice (pulao), pratas and simple dhal. The hot food along with refreshing Lime Juice was a perfect way to end the energetic solution.
Holi 2012 was one of the best Holi's I had and being Indian, it was great to see people from round the globe engaging in my culture.
